We have partnered with Alzheimer Society of Durham Region to bring a new program to the library to support individuals with cognitive (memory) change and their families and caregivers.
Brain Waves Café - A social and informal place for individuals with cognitive (memory) change to meet together socially in the community for stimulating conversation, support and other engaging activities. Friends and family welcome. Light refreshments available.
When: The fourth Thursday of each month, 1-2:30 pm

From Birder to Birder Murder
Local Pickering author and birder Steve Burrows wrote his first mystery novel,
A Siege of Bitterns, published in 2015, which won him a major award for Best First Novel. He followed up with three more mysteries all incorporating birds and birding. Steve will tell us about how he developed his Birder Murder series from his own experiences with birding and birders. On the North Durham Nature birding trip to Colombia he researched the details for his latest novel,
A Shimmer of Hummingbirds.
