NEW! Pre-release Film Nights at the Library
We are pleased to announce that we now have access to pre-release titles! In order to bring you the latest titles, often before they are available on DVD, we will be announcing the upcoming movie title on a monthly basis in library and via our website. Be sure to check to find out what the next movie is.

Tickets for all films are $2 each and may be purchased at the circulation desk on week in advance of screenings.

Come and discover a new author or find out more about the titles creating a buzz in the book biz. Join us for an afternoon of tea, treats and great conversation, where Library staff will discuss their latest fiction and non-fiction picks.

Brain Wave Café
A social and informal place for individuals with cognitive (memory) change to meet together socially in the community for stimulating conversation, support and other engaging activities. Friends and family welcome. Light refreshments available.

Zoomer Tech Club
Are you looking for some guidance with your new computer, tablet or cell phone? Our Zoomer Tech Club is and excellent group for seniors who want to learn at their own pace and socialize a bit at the same time. It also provides a great opportunity to help others by trading technology tips and tricks.


Every Saturday from 10 am to 12 pm

This is a drop-in program and registration is not required.

We offer Travelogue programs on the second Tuesday of each month, with speakers presenting on a wide array of travel destinations.

North Durham Nature Presents
The Natural Side of Cuba
World traveler and local acclaimed naturalist Geoff Carpentier will present a naturalist's travelogue to Cuba. Known as a sun destination for Canadians, parts of Cuba are also a natural paradise with many bird and reptile species found nowhere else in the world.
Geoff will take us from the peculiar limestone knolls of Vinales, the forested Escambray Mountains to the vast Zapata Swamp, largest wetland in the Caribbean Basin, and show us some of the wildlife that live there.

Annual Snowflake Sale
A unique opportunity to purchase handcrafted items from local artisans and support the Library.

Visit us from November 18th to December 17th, during regular library hours, for an opportunity to browse and buy a wide variety of handcrafted items created by local artists and artisans from displays throughout the library.
 
Favourites from previous years will be available, as well as work by new vendors. Choose from a wide variety of handmade products and treats. This is a great way to browse for unique gift ideas and support your library, as we receive a portion of all sales.

Bakersville Gingerbread Village
A Community tradition continues in December.
Hold on to that leftover Halloween candy! You'll need it for the masterpiece you'll be making in December! An annual tradition, Bakersville is a community project featuring gingerbread homes and buildings created by community members. Running from December 2nd to January 2nd, Bakersville offers a delightful celebration of the season.

Interested in participating in Bakersville? Pick up an information sheet at the library with gingerbread recipes and a tip sheet to complete your 'construction'. There is no entry fee and entries from individuals, families, or groups are all welcome. Just bring your creation to the library from November 27th to 30th.
