Man On Wire

James Marsh's dazzling, invigorating documentary tells the story of a truly inspiring figure. In the early 1970s, a fiery young Frenchman named Philippe Petit wanted to shake up the world. When he saw the World Trade Center being built in New York City, he found his mission. Petit was a trained high wire walker, and his goal was to set up a wire between the two towers and give the world a show it could never have expected.  Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

 
Tickets foreach film are $1 and may be purchased at the Library up to a week in advance of the show times.  Seating is limited, so purchase tickets early!

Specially designed for older adults who are new to using the Internet, Seniors Online can help you get comfortable being online and sending email in just four short informational sessions.

TEEN SING-ALONG MOVIE MUSICAL NIGHT
Fri, May 1st at 7 pm.
For ages 12 & up.A Double Feature of two of you favourite movie musicals. The musicals will be selected by teens voting on our website (www.scugoglibrary.ca) starting April 17th. The library will be closed so don't be afraid to sing out loud! Tickets are $2 each and go on Sale April 24th. Spaces are limited so get your tickets early!

For ages 12 & up. Got game? Bring your favourite board game or use one of ours. Whether you want to play cards or Monopoly, it's a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Preschool Storytime         
Children ages 3 to 5 will enjoy a 45 minute session  featuring exciting and educational literacy activities. Join us for stories, songs and take-home crafts. Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday mornings 10:30 to 11:15 am

Tech for Tots  
This unique program for 3 to 5 year olds teaches the basics of computer skills through child-friendly, educationalweb-sites. Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday mornings 10:00 to 10:30 am

SUMMER READING CLUB!
Get ready for some Summer sleuthing with the TD Summer Reading Club!
We'll be offering tons of fun activities throughout the summer months through our Summer Reading Club.  Kids will be keeping up their reading skills throughout the school break while having a great time at the Library! 
 
Summer Reading Club is easy to participate in.  Just sign up, read for the fun of it, talk to us about the books you are reading and enter to win some great prizes!
 
We also be offering lots of fun programs for the whole family, like campfire nights and family story times. 
 
This year's theme is all about mysteries and investigations! Your mission is to have a great time at the library all summer long!  Are you ready Agent 009?

How do I join the Summer Reading Club?
Summer Reading Club Registration starts on June 29th, but you can sign up anytime after that as well.  Just visit us here at the Library to register and get your free poster and booklet.
 
How much does the Summer Reading Club cost?
The Summer Reading Club is absolutely free, thanks to financial support from the TD bank!
 
When does the Summer Reading Club take place?
You can participate any time the library is open, starting July 2nd.  Just bring your books to the reporting station and tell us about what you've been reading.   You can earn stickers for your poster and enter to win some great prizes!  We'll also be offering weekly meetings and Summer Reading Club programs throughout July and August.  Check out the Library's website or the July and August newsletter (available mid-June) for dates and times!
 
If someone can't read yet, can they still join?
Yes!  Preschoolers are welcome to join in the fun.  Good listening counts and helps to develop literacy skills.  Pre-readers can go to the reporting station to tell us about stories that have been read to them or they can earn stickers by participating in the preschool storytime programs that we'll be offering at the Library this summer.  Check out our July/August newsletter for the summer story-time schedule.
