LEGO Engineering Contest

 

Youth, Tweens, Teens and Families can enter their own Lego creations!


Submission Date: Thursday, July 16th,10 am - 9 pm
Pick-Up Date: Saturday, July 25th,10 am - 5 pm 
There are 4 categories this year:
1) Ages 8 & under (Youth)
2) Ages 9-12 (Tween)
3) Ages 13-18 (Teen)
4) Family Effort (2 or more family members - any age)
There will be a prize awarded in each category on Thursday, July 23rd.

First Prize Winners in each category will win a $50 Gift Certificate from Bricks 4 Kidz for North Durham, Lake Simcoe and the Kawarthas!

The Lego creations will be on display from July 18th to July 24th.
Zoomer Tech Club

Come in on Saturdays from 2-4 to talk about technology and get encouragement from your peers.  Sit down with your iPad, tablet or laptop and share tricks and tips that you have learned.  For one hour we will have a library staff member sit in with you to help troubleshoot computer problems. 


When: Every Saturday from 2pm-4pm

This is a drop-in program and pre-registration is not required.

Summer Reading Club 2015
Get ready for another summer of fun with the TD Summer Reading Club!

 

Use your imagination t o embark on an exciting adventure with this year's TD Summer Reading Club.
 
Registration Begins on Friday, June 26th at 10 am, but you can sign up any time after that date.  You can participate in any way you'd like.  You can join us each week for reading club programs or read on your own and report in at the library.

This year we're offering a drop-in on twice a week where you can report on what you've read and score points for your team.

Kids' Summer Reading Club Activities - June 29th to August 14th

If you have joined our summer reading club, you can also take part in some fun activities throughout the summer (June 29th to August 14th).

For Ages 9-13

Senior Reading Club (Ages 9 to 13) - Drop In Program
When: Mondays from 2:00-2:45 pm OR Wednesdays from 10:30-11:15 am (Closed Wednesday, July 1st for Canada Day & Monday, August 3rd for Civic Holiday)

Senior Makers (Ages 9 to 13) - Drop In Program
When: Tuesdays from 3:30-4:15 pm
The Senior Makers will create, design or build a new project or art piece each week. Participants will explore artistic techniques or learn more about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) concepts through creative and fun projects.

Senior Fun & Games (Ages 9 to 13) - Drop In Program
When: Thursdays from 3:15-4:00 pm
This year, we're dividing our popular Fun & Games program into specific age ranges to make the program even more fun for everyone! All ages will experience camp-style games and songs appropriate to their age & skills.

For Ages 6-8

Junior Reading Club (Ages 6 to 8) - Drop In Program
When: Mondays from 10:30-11:15 am OR Tuesdays from 2:00-2:45 pm (Closed Wednesday, July 1st for Canada Day & Monday, August 3rd for Civic Holiday)

Junior Makers (Ages 6 to 8)  - Drop In Program
When: Tuesdays from 1:00-1:30 pm
The Junior Makers will be busy making & creating a variety of different projects specific to the skills sets and interests of this age group. Participants will be using their artistic skills, and exploring basic STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) concepts.

When: Thursdays from 2:15-3:00 pm
This year, we're dividing our popular Fun & Games program into specific age ranges to make the program even more fun for everyone! All ages will experience camp-style games and songs appropriate to their age & skills.

These new programs offer parents & kids of all ages the chance to participate in fun activities together here at the library.

Family Movie Matinees

Join us on Friday Afternoons for Big Screen Movie Matinees. It only costs a toonie for a ticket or $5 for a family of 4 or more. Bring your own snacks!
