Try Gentle Yoga with Penny Sandvold & EFT with Marlene Mitchell 
Try Gentle Yoga with Penny Sandvold & EFT with Marlene Mitchell

Penny and Marlene have generously donated their time to offer a 1.5 hour yoga and EFT class here at the library, with 100% of the class fee going directly to the library. Penny will offer the yoga portion of the class, where participants learn ancient techniques to increase flexibility, improve concentration, alleviate stress, create greater self-awareness, & promote well-being.   Marlene will include an introduction to EFT, also known as "Tapping" because it involves tapping with the fingertips on the body meridians. EFT is a popular stress relief technique.

North Durham Nature presents: The Ever Changing Nature of Lake Scugog

We're pleased to partner with North Durham Nature in presenting 'The Ever Changing Nature of Lake Scugog' with Barbara Karthein.  

With a mission to protect and improve the health of Lake Scugog, Barbara Karthein has been working hard at it for over thirteen years. As Present of the Scugog Lake Stewards, Barbara has been involved in naturalizing shorelines, combating invasive species and lake research.

Ontario Early Years Presents: Positive Discipline for Parents
We're pleased to partner with the Ontario Early Years Centre to present "Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting". Designed for families, this is a non-punitive approach, which helps families of children 0-18 years understand healthy child development while building positive family relationships. This 8 week program will take you through each stage of development using discussion and exercises to identify common family conflicts.

 

Ontario Early Years Staff will also offer a children's program concurrent with this program to keep kids busy while their parents learn.

 

When: Tuesday evenings from 6-8 pm, January 13th to March 3rd

 

This program is free of charge, but spaces are limited. Please call the Ontario Early Years Centre at 905-985-2824 to register.

Come in on Saturdays from 2-4 to talk about technology and get encouragement from your peers.  Sit down with your iPad, tablet or laptop and share tricks and tips that you have learned.  For one hour we will have a library staff member sit in with you to help troubleshoot computer problems.
