Kent Farndale Gallery logo Drop by the Library for an afternoon of tea & treats and discover some great new reads!  Come and discover a new author or find out more about the titles creating a buzz in in the book biz.  Join us for 'Tea & Books' where Library staff will discuss their latest fiction and non-fiction picks, as well as some of  their all time favourites.

Mindfulness for a More Fulfilling Life 
Join host, David Maian, for this free seminar on mindfulnesss! 

Mindfulness is a method of meditation that involves observing and examining life experience in a non-threatening ways, to create greater feelings of harmony, joy, peace, spaciousness, acceptance, openness, and contentment in one's life.

This presentation is free but pre-registration is required. Please call 905-985-7686 x 101 or visit the Information Desk to register. If you are considering a 10 week Mindfulness Meditation program (beginning Sept 17th, Tuesdays, 7-8:30 pm) please bring a $20 deposit for your enrollment. 
Knitting Classes 
Learn to knit - or polish up your skills with a new technique! Carol McGavin, owner of Never Enough Wool in Port Perry, will be teaching a 6-week course with instruction for beginners and beyond. Our beginner project will be a felted bag, perfect for carrying your books home from the library!

Teen & Tween Spooky 'Spine Poetry' Contest 

Teens & Tweens! We're looking for some creative entries for our spooky poetry contest. The catch? Your poem has to be 'written' using the titles on the spines of books. Stack 'em up and photograph them to create a spine-tingling spooky poem!

 

Contest details and entry forms can be found on the bulletin board in the library's Teen Zone.  

 

Deadline for submissions is October 24th, 2013 at 9pm and entries will be displayed on the Teen bulletin board!  

Bakersville Gingerbread Village

A Community Tradition Continues in December Hold on to that leftover Halloween candy! You'll need it for the masterpiece you're making in December!

 

An annual tradition, Bakersville is a community project featuring gingerbread homes and buildings created by a wide variety of community members. 

Running from December 7th to 28th,  Bakersville offers a delightful celebration of the season.

 

Interested in participating in Bakersville?  Pick up an information sheet at the library with gingerbread recipes and a tip sheet to complete your 'construction'.  There is no entry fee and entries from individuals, families or groups are all welcome.  Just bring your creation to the library from December 2nd to 5th.

Great deals for book lovers! 
Browse the tables and see what treasures you can find. Books magazines, picturebooks and more for bargain basement prices.

When: September 27th through 29th  (during regular Library hours).

Our Annual Snowflake Sale

A unique opportunity to purchase handcrafted items from local artisans and support the Library.

Visit the library to browse and buy a wide variety of handcrafted items created by local artists and artisans.

 

Favourites from previous years will be available, as well as work by new vendors.  Choose from a wide range of work in a variety of media, including: photography, jewelry, handcrafted soaps, pottery, original paintings and prints and much, much more.

 

This is a great way to browse for unique gift ideas and support your library, as we receive a portion of all sales.

Bring your little one for songs, stories and movement activities in this fast-paced, fun-filled half-hour program.  For 1 to 3 year olds.

Babytime
Babytime will break for the summer, but we'll be back in September with this great program designed just for babies (newborn to 18 months) and their parents or care-givers. Learn new songs, rhymes and bounces you can share with your baby at home! Older siblings are welcome to come along - they can even bring a doll or a stuffed toy and join in the fun.

Tech for Tots
